Why is my webcam lagging only on Teams when using a KVM switch?

I've been experiencing issues with my webcam during work calls on Microsoft Teams. The webcam works perfectly fine on my main PC and most applications on my laptop, but when I use it on Teams, it's laggy and pixelated, which makes it really frustrating to participate in meetings. My setup involves connecting the webcam via USB to a KVM switch, which then connects to my laptop using a Type C cable. I'm wondering if the KVM might be the cause of this issue.

It sounds like the KVM switch you're using might be limiting your webcam's performance since it's likely USB 1. This older standard can cause issues with data transfer speed. To fix this, try using the laptop's built-in camera or connect your webcam directly to the laptop instead. Most KVMs are designed for older hardware and may not perform well with newer devices.

I get what you're saying, but it worked fine in my last place, so it’s confusing. Plus, it does just fine on my PC. Why only on Teams and the laptop?

I tried connecting my webcam straight to the laptop too, but it didn't resolve the issue for me.
