Hey everyone! My roommates and I decided to set up Ethernet cables for our Xbox consoles to improve our gaming experience. The issue is that my roommates' wall has both an orange and a green Ethernet port, and the green one works perfectly for them. However, on my side of the wall, I only have an orange port, and it's not functioning for me. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the different colored ports and if there's a way to fix it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to ask your apartment manager for help with this. They'll know what's up with the ports since they manage the building's tech. Just a thought!
First off, you should reach out to your college's IT department. They usually handle stuff like this. Just give them your room number and the port number, and they can check if it's active or needs some work.
Honestly, contacting your IT department is a good move. If you're not getting any connection, they should be able to assist. But also, the different colored ports could indicate different uses—for example, orange might be for something like a phone system instead of internet. So that's something to consider too!
One option is to get a small 4-port network switch along with a long Ethernet cable. This way, both you and your roommate can share the same plug. It's a solid workaround if the port can't be fixed quickly!
I appreciate the clarification! I wasn't sure if the colors had any specific meaning!
