Why Isn’t My GPU Being Detected After PSU Upgrade?

Hey everyone! I've had my PC for about 4 years and recently added a new power supply (PSU). However, now my motherboard isn't detecting my GPU anymore. The system still posts, but it's using the internal graphics instead of my graphics card. Here are my specs:

- Intel i9 10850K
- 32 GB DDR4 @ 3600
- Gigabyte Aorus 3080 Xtreme
- Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Master
- Old PSU: EVGA 650 GT, New PSU: XPG 850 Core Reactor II

I've checked the power cables and reseated the GPU, but no luck. The NVIDIA app isn't working either because it says I need a GPU. Just to note, my GPU lights up and the fans are running fine, so it seems like it has power. Any ideas? Thanks!

It sounds like you've done some solid troubleshooting. Just to double-check, make sure you checked the power cables on both the PSU and GPU ends—sometimes that can get overlooked. If everything is properly connected, it might actually be an issue with the motherboard or the new PSU not providing enough power. Have you tried using the GPU in another computer to see if it works there?

If the GPU works in another system, then it’s definitely an issue with your motherboard or the new PSU. You might want to consider upgrading your power supply to one that can handle the load better. If that doesn’t fix the issue, returning the PSU and looking into a new motherboard could be the way to go.
