Why isn’t my GPU being detected after thermal paste replacement?

I recently replaced the thermal paste on my Ryzen 5600G CPU after about 3-4 years of use. However, after reassembling everything, my motherboard won't detect any GPUs. I primarily use a Gigabyte 3080, but I've also tried a friend's 1650, and neither are recognized. I've already reset the CMOS, reseated the GPUs multiple times, and used DDU to uninstall previous drivers. The GPU fans and RGB lights turn on, so they seem functional. When I use the CPU's integrated graphics, everything works fine. I'm starting to worry if it's a faulty motherboard or GPU since I took it to a shop and they couldn't test it. Here are my specs: 3080, Ryzen 5600G, 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, Corsair RM750 PSU, and Asrock B550M Pro 4 motherboard.

Does your motherboard have another PCIe slot you can try? If so, put your GPU in that one (even if it's a lower speed) to see if it’s an issue with the original slot. Sometimes slots can get damaged or fail.

Have you checked your BIOS settings? Some motherboards allow you to select whether to use the discrete graphics card or integrated graphics. Boot up with the HDMI connected to your motherboard, then go into BIOS and look for GPU priority settings. It might just be set to the integrated GPU by default.

You mentioned replacing the thermal paste, but did anything else come loose during that? Consider if you might have unintentionally damaged any physical components on the motherboard or bent any pins while working. It's unlikely but worth checking out.
