I've got an iPad (A16) that suddenly stopped charging even though it was working fine yesterday. I've handled it carefully—no drops or dirt in the port (I even checked with a toothpick). I've tried multiple cables that work with my phone, but none charge my iPad. I received this device as a Christmas gift just last year, so I'm baffled. Is there a chance the battery is already dead? I'd prefer not to pay for repairs when nothing seems damaged. Is this a common issue, and can I fix it myself?

I swear, iPad charging ports can be picky! Sometimes they'll charge just fine, and other days, they act like they’re on a strike. So, definitely try the hard reset and different cables. Just like cats, they have their moods!
Your iPad may require a specific power charger. Make sure you’re using at least a 20W charger, which is what the A16 needs. If your charger matches that wattage, then you might want to check the cables next.
I had a similar issue; the cable would maintain the battery percentage but wouldn’t actually charge it. I took mine to an Apple store, and they diagnosed it as needing a new one.
First, make sure to try a different charging cable. And use something non-metal, like a toothpick, to check for any dust in the charging port—just be gentle, you don't want to damage anything.
Try doing a force restart on your iPad. If it's not completely dead, this might help. To do it, press and quickly release the Volume Up button, then the Volume Down button, and finally, press and hold the Side/Power button. Keep holding it until you see the Apple logo.
