I have an LG DVD player from the early 2000s and a smart Bush TV that's a couple of years old. They both seem functional on their own, but I can't get them to work together. I've been trying different cables and finally found one that seems to connect, but the TV keeps displaying a 'no signal' message. I've double-checked that I'm on the correct source input. I don't have the remote for the DVD player anymore, and I'm wondering if I need it to operate certain functions or if I should just get a new DVD player altogether. What should I check or do?

First off, what cables have you tried? If you found a cable that connected but still shows 'no signal,' it might not be working properly. Also, make sure you're picking the right input on your TV. Since you don't have the remote for your DVD player, you can still power it on and load a DVD, but some players may require the remote to access the play menu. If it's not auto-playing, that could be a challenge without it.

I've tried VGA, AV to HDMI, and HDMI, but none worked. The DVD player model is LG DP132 and the TV model is BUSH ELED22FHDS. I've checked every input source—I know it's on because it makes a noise and the light turns on, but nothing shows up on the TV. I'm starting to think it has to be a cable issue.
