Why isn’t there a Linux version of the Claude Desktop app?

I'm curious why there's still no official Linux version of the Claude Desktop app. I know there's a GitHub project that provides a version, but I don't feel comfortable using it. The Claude Code works on Linux subsystems, and since Claude Desktop is just an Electron app, I find it frustrating that it lacks Linux support.

Yeah, it’s surprising they don’t have native support. I used a repo—probably the same one you're talking about—to install it on Debian, and it’s been running smoothly for me!

I get that, but I'm wary of using it. The GitHub owner's account doesn't seem transparent, and I think it's something the Anthropic team could easily provide themselves.

Have you thought about reaching out to Claude and requesting a Linux client? Sometimes companies need a push from users!

Totally agree! As a Linux user, it's frustrating that they haven't released a version since it's just an Electron app. I mostly stick to Claude Code, but having the desktop app would be nice too.
