Why won’t Memtest86 run on my laptop?

Hey everyone! I've been having some serious crashes and BSODs (blue screen of death) on my laptop, so I decided to check my RAM using Memtest86. I installed the Memtest86 image on a USB stick and booted from it. The Memtest86 logo shows up, but after that, I'm met with a blank screen. Nothing happens until I have to manually reboot back into Windows. Any tips on how to get this working would be super helpful!

Have you checked if secure boot is turned off in your BIOS? That might be causing the issue. I got Memtest86 running smoothly on my Ventoy drive, so it should work if everything is set up right.

I have a Framework laptop with a Ryzen 7 3500, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD. When I try to run Memtest, it configures fine but then goes to a blank screen. Any ideas?

First off, if you can get into Windows, make sure to check out the Minidump folder located at C:WindowsMinidump. You can find crash logs from your BSODs there. If you find any dump files, zip them up and upload them to a file-sharing service. Having multiple dump files can help with troubleshooting. Also, there's a guide online on how to configure Windows to create small memory dumps if needed.

That's good advice! Just make sure the dump files are zipped correctly before uploading them.
