Hey folks! I got a CoolPad cp3705as back in 2019 and used it for service for a year. Since then, I've switched to another phone and carrier but kept this one around because it's got a fantastic high-speed camera. Recently, I tried to use it again by connecting to WiFi, but I'm running into a wall. The phone has no SIM card, so I turn on the WiFi, and while it connects fine after entering the password, it suddenly shows that there's NO internet connection. I've tried this on over 15 different known working networks at friends' places, and it acts like it's in airplane mode or just won't connect at all. It doesn't matter if it's 5G or 2.4G—it refuses to work! I can't even connect through a hotspot or a WiFi repeater. I'm starting to think that Boost Mobile may have banned my phone from accessing the internet, which seems strange since I have other Boost phones that work perfectly fine. I even went to the store, but they didn't help and just said my phone is too old. Any ideas on what could be going on?

Maybe there’s a misconfiguration in the settings. Have you thought about doing a factory reset? That might return everything back to default settings and fix the issue.
Remember that WiFi operates in unregulated bands, unlike cellular networks where carriers have their own frequencies. Unless there’s an odd radiation issue, they shouldn't interfere with each other.
Yeah, a lot of issues can happen on older phones like your 2019 model. Make sure to check the WPA version on your router and also the DNS settings. Those can really mess with connections.
Have you tried turning off mobile data completely? If there's no SIM, there's no need for mobile data. After that, test your WiFi again. You can even try enabling airplane mode to focus solely on WiFi.
I’ve already tried both methods, but it doesn’t change anything. I do that with my Galaxy, and it works fine.
Nope, WiFi doesn't really work that way. If it's connecting but no internet, it's likely not the carrier's fault.
It sounds like there might be something wrong with the WiFi component of your phone. To my knowledge, no carrier can block the WiFi functionality on a smartphone. Have you tried forgetting the WiFi network and reconnecting? Sometimes that can clear up odd issues like this.
I've tried that more times than I can count. It connects but still shows 'no internet' after joining.
Make sure your WiFi connection settings are set to use DHCP, not a static IP. You can find this in the advanced settings of your network connection, but it varies by model, so you may need to look it up online.
Great advice! I was also thinking of disabling cellular data just to eliminate any weird routing issues.

I'm on Android 9 with the latest update possible. But I can't even check for newer ones since it won't connect to the internet.
