Why Won’t My DVD Play on My Player or Xbox?

I have a DVD copy of Princess Mononoke that works perfectly on my computer. However, I'm having trouble playing it on my JVC combo DVD/VCR and Xbox Series X. Both devices are functioning correctly, and I've just been using my DVD player before this incident. The disc keeps getting stuck in a loading cycle and never seems to boot up, but there are no error messages showing. Does anyone have any ideas on why this might be happening?

It's possible that your DVD player and Xbox are struggling with defects in the disc that your computer can handle. I suggest you try cleaning the disc first or consider replacing it if the cleaning doesn't help. Sometimes scratches can interrupt playback, even if they haven't caused issues in the past. Yeah, I noticed some scratches on it, but they seem minor compared to other discs I've played. I really didn't think it would be an issue, but thanks for the suggestion!

Have you checked the region code on the DVD? Sometimes a standalone player or a console is stricter about region locking compared to a computer. If your console and player are both from the US, make sure the DVD is also from the same region. It can make a difference!

I'm pretty sure the DVD says it was made in the US, and my player and Xbox are good with other US DVDs, so I think that's not the problem.
