Why won’t my extension cable fit into my power supply?

I'm having trouble with my extension cables. The male connector fits into my GPU just fine, but the female connector won't fit onto the PCIe cables from my power supply. Are these extension cables just incompatible or is there a manufacturing issue with them? I bought these extension cables from Micro Center.

If the extension cables are designed as such, they should fit both the PSU and GPU connectors. As a quick test, try plugging the extension cable into itself to check the connection. Also, make sure you’re inserting the connectors in the correct orientation—double-check that the pins line up right!

I tried plugging it into itself and it works. I'm still a bit lost on the orientation though since I'm new to this.
