Why won’t my PC boot with more than 1GB of RAM?

Hey everyone! I've been having a really frustrating issue with my PC. About a month ago, while running a game, my system froze up and I had to do a hard shutdown. Ever since, my PC won't show any display unless I use only 1GB of RAM. The fans just go to full speed, and I'm at a loss for what to do. Here's what I've tried so far:

- Resetting the BIOS and clearing the CMOS
- Testing different RAM sticks and slots (all of them work fine in another PC)
- Thoroughly cleaning the system
- Removing the GPU

Here are my specs: HP Compaq 6300 MT Pro with an Intel i7-3770, RX 460, and 12GB of RAM. I'd truly appreciate any help or insights on what could be causing this issue! Also, sorry if my English isn't perfect!

It sounds like you're dealing with an older system that might have some underlying issues. Do you know the RAM configuration when you’re trying to boot with the full 12GB? And how was the maintenance on it over the years? Sometimes older PCs can act up due to overheating or failing components. It might be a good idea to check the CMOS battery, and maybe even reapply thermal paste on the CPU if you haven't already. Also, give your capacitors a look with a flashlight to see if any are bulging or damaged.

I get that it’s frustrating, but have you considered the power supply unit (PSU)? Sometimes a failing PSU can cause weird behavior like this, especially with power-hungry CPUs. If you have access to a different PSU, it could be worth a shot.

You should try testing your RAM with memtest86 or similar. It can help check if the RAM has issues. However, if you can’t boot with more than 1GB, that might be tough! Have you tried testing the sticks individually in another machine, even if they seem to work fine? It might help narrow down the issue.
