Why won’t my PC start after upgrading my CPU?

I recently replaced my Intel i3-12100F with an i5-14400F, but now my PC won't turn on. It emits three short beeps when I try to start it, and I can't figure out the issue. I've ensured that the CPU is installed correctly and only touched the cooler during the installation. Could someone please help me troubleshoot this? Here are my specs:

- Motherboard: B660M Gigabyte
- RAM: 16GB DDR4
- CPU cooler: Intel stock cooler
- Power supply: 500W
- Overclocking: Normal 5060 OC

Definitely check your BIOS. It could be the root of your issue. One trick is to remove the CMOS battery for about 30 seconds and then put it back in. Also, trying different RAM sticks might help—take one out at a time and see if it boots. If all else fails, consider that your power supply might not be sufficient either.

Have you updated the BIOS? Sometimes, a new CPU requires a BIOS update to work properly. I’d recommend trying that out. If you haven't updated it yet, you might need to reinstall your old CPU, update the BIOS, and then swap it back for the new one. It's a hassle, but it could solve your problem!

As others mentioned, updating your BIOS is crucial! You can also use tools like PCPartPicker when planning your builds; it often alerts you to potential compatibility issues. Additionally, if you're running heavy components, consider upgrading to at least a 750W power supply.
