Why won’t my PC turn on after shutting it down?

A few days ago, I decided to shut down my PC using the start menu, which is something I don't usually do since I mostly just restart it. Ever since that shutdown, I haven't been able to turn it back on. My prebuilt iBUYPOWER system has the DRAM and CPU lights illuminated on the motherboard, but other than that, nothing happens. The fans start up, but my USB peripherals don't respond, and I'm not getting any signal on my monitor. I've been careful to check that everything is seated properly and that the power supply is working. I also inspected the motherboard for any visible damage, unplugged everything to see if that would help, and even tried different HDMI cables and outlets. I tested each RAM stick in all slots since I find it hard to believe that they'd fail all at once. The PC is relatively clean as it's new, and I haven't noticed other issues that typically indicate a failing CPU. Now I'm a bit puzzled and was recommended to reset the BIOS/CMOS and even change the CMOS battery, which I did. Anyone have any ideas on what might be going on?

It sounds like you’ve done a lot of good troubleshooting already! Since the motherboard lights are on but you’re not getting a boot signal, I would focus on the RAM and CPU connections again. It's possible the CPU might not be seated correctly, even if you didn’t notice anything wrong. A reset of the BIOS is also a solid step, and make sure the battery replacement was done correctly. Sometimes, even if everything seems fine, there could be a loose connection somewhere that’s causing this issue. Keep us updated!

Just to clarify, did you replace the CMOS battery after being recommended to do so? Sometimes it’s the little things that trip us up! If you’ve done all that and the issue persists, you might want to reset the BIOS one more time and try booting with only one RAM stick. Also, are any beeps coming from the motherboard when you try to start it up? That could give some insight into what’s wrong.
