I'm planning to buy a portable monitor that connects to my PC via USB-C. I want to know if it will utilize my dedicated GPU (a 5060ti) or if it'll just run off my CPU's integrated graphics. Does it even matter if it's mainly for simple tasks like checking my browser or Discord? It's just a generic 15.6 inch portable monitor I found on Amazon. Thanks for your help!

It really depends on your setup! If you're using a laptop, the answer hinges on how the USB-C ports are wired. For desktops, it depends on the port you plug the monitor into: if it's connected to your GPU, then it'll run from there; if it's into the motherboard, that might use integrated graphics.

Yeah, it’s gotten a bit more complex. Even with a dedicated GPU, Windows can sometimes use integrated graphics depending on what you're doing. You can actually select which GPU to use for each application, especially useful for preserving battery on laptops.
