Will Adding More RAM Improve My FPS in Rust?

I've been experiencing fluctuating frame rates while playing Rust, going from 80-100 FPS down to 50-70 FPS in heavily loaded areas. My current setup includes 2x8GB of 3200MHz RAM, which seems insufficient as my memory usage spikes to 97%. I've just ordered an additional 2x16GB of 3200MHz RAM from Corsair. I'm curious if upgrading to 32GB will make my gaming experience smoother without running out of memory. For context, my game is installed on an SSD, and I'm using an RTX 4060 Ti GPU with an Intel i5-11400 processor at 1920x1080 resolution.

I wouldn't worry about needing 32GB just for Rust. The game doesn’t require that much RAM. But yes, it does eat up memory, especially with other programs running, so more RAM could still help a bit!

For sure! Even though Rust's requirements aren’t super high, modern games and OSes can really use up RAM—so you'll benefit from the upgrade.

Honestly, just getting to 16GB could be enough for most games. You might see just a slight FPS increase and improved latency, but it probably won't completely solve your stuttering issues.

But Rust is special! I hear it can use over 20GB with Windows running. So, more RAM definitely won’t hurt!

Your RAM is definitely a thing to consider here! While your CPU might not be the latest, more RAM will help with stability, especially in resource-heavy games like Rust. Adding the extra 32GB should help your FPS stay more consistent.

Totally agree! If you can keep your memory usage lower, you'll likely see those FPS numbers stabilize.
