Hey everyone! I'm feeling really stressed about a situation I'm in and could use your advice. I have AppleCare+ that includes Theft and Loss coverage, but a few days ago I accidentally dropped my iPhone 14 Pro Max into the sea. I took it to a third-party data recovery shop to recover my data, and they replaced the broken screen with a non-original one. I then sent the phone back to Apple for a claim, but now I'm worried because the replacement screen is dead and I'm concerned this might affect my claim. Currently, it says on the tracking page that Apple received my phone and it's under inspection. Do you think they'll reject my claim because of the third-party screen, even though the phone is clearly water damaged and not working? Has anyone been in a similar situation? I would really appreciate any insights!

Unfortunately, Apple's terms say that any repairs done by third parties void the AppleCare coverage. I wouldn't be surprised if they deny your claim. Generally, they might either replace your phone and charge you for it or return it to you as is. If they tell you it's not eligible for service, that might leave you in a tough spot for getting a new device at a decent price.
It's definitely a tough situation you're in. Fingers crossed for the best outcome!
Honestly, there's a good chance Apple will reject your claim since you had a third-party screen put on. They usually don't cover repairs done by non-Apple services. If they happen to accept it, you might still end up being charged for the device. It's probably worth contacting them directly to see what they say, but prepare for some potentially bad news.
That's a bummer! It's just so frustrating when third parties are involved. But totally agree, contacting Apple for clarity could help.
Yeah, it really sucks that Apple is so strict about this. I hope it works out for you!
That's what I've heard too. It seems so unfair. Hope you get something sorted out!
