Will the Ryzen 5 5600XT ever work with Windows 11?

I've been trying to upgrade to Windows 11, but I ran into a roadblock because my Ryzen 5 5600XT isn't listed as compatible on Microsoft's official site. Do you think there's a chance it will eventually become compatible, or should I just consider getting a new processor?

I had to update my BIOS and change some settings to upgrade my 5600X to Windows 11, but after that, it's been great! Make sure you've got Secure Boot and TPM enabled in your BIOS. It makes a difference!

Honestly, it is compatible even if it's not on that list. That page hasn't been updated for a while and it doesn't include many recent CPUs. You should be able to install it without issues!

That's reassuring! I'll give it a shot, but if it still doesn't work, should I try a fresh install?

Yeah, that list doesn't even mention the latest Zen 5 processors!

It should work just fine with your processor! You might just need to tweak some BIOS settings.

Got it, thanks for the heads up!

I have a 5600X too, and it upgraded to Windows 11 without any hiccups. My Plex server on a 3800X is also running smoothly on Win 11!

I've run Windows 11 since launch on my older Ryzen 5600 and haven’t faced any problems with it. You should be good to go!

Most CPUs from the 2000 series and newer are supported. If you've got a 5600XT, it likely just needs a little BIOS adjusting to work with Windows 11, especially enabling features like Secure Boot or TPM.

You might be missing Secure Boot or TPM 2.0, either of which can cause issues. Make sure they're enabled in the BIOS; I’ve seen some boards have quirks, especially Gigabyte ones. Let me know if that helps!

I’ve been using Windows 11 on my Ryzen 5700X for years. Just check those BIOS settings for Secure Boot and TPM, and you should be set!

The absence of the 5600XT in the compatibility list might just be an oversight. I've got a system with a 5600X, and it runs Windows 11 perfectly fine!

Thanks for that info! I'm going to give it a go.
