I'm trying to determine if the Ryzen 9700X will be sufficient to maximize the performance of an RTX 5070, especially since I'm planning to overclock the GPU for better performance. I watched a video from Blackbird PC Tech that demonstrated how undervolting, tweaking memory subtimings, enabling Precision Boost Overdrive, and overclocking could allow the 9700X to compete with the 7800X3D under certain conditions. However, I suspect that the difference in cache between the X3D and 9700X could still affect performance in some games. Is it worth investing significantly more in a 9800X3D if I'm using a 5070?

Absolutely, it’s a decent match. But remember, no CPU can completely flood a GPU for everything. It depends on your games—some will lean towards needing more CPU power while others will be more GPU intensive. For instance, games like Minecraft or Tarkov might cap you out on CPU, while graphically demanding games will push your GPU. Overall, the 9700X is a strong choice for the 5070; just keep in mind the limits based on what you play.
Totally agree, balance is key!
The 9700X should handle most scenarios just fine, especially if you're gaming at 1440p. It’s a solid CPU for the 5070!
Thanks for confirming that!
Great insights, appreciate it!
