Hey everyone! I've got an RTX 3080 setup from 2021 that's still performing well for gaming. I'm considering upgrading my motherboard and RAM, and I'd like to know if that would significantly improve my gaming experience. Here's what I currently have: an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU, ASUS B550 TUF Plus Gaming motherboard, and Crucial Balistix 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM. My power supply is a G.Skill 850 Watt.
Would upgrading to DDR5 RAM and a new motherboard provide a noticeable boost in frame rates, or should I hold off and consider a full upgrade including the CPU and GPU? I was thinking of going for a Ryzen 7 9800X3D if that changes anything. Thanks for any advice!

The Ryzen 5800X only supports DDR4, so if you upgrade to DDR5 RAM, it won’t be compatible. You'd need a new CPU like the Ryzen 7000 series to use DDR5 memory. Since your CPU is already solid, unless you're facing performance issues, it might be best to wait for a bigger upgrade later on.

Got it, that makes sense! I wasn't aware about the RAM compatibility with my current CPU. Appreciate the heads-up!
