I'm having trouble burning CDs using my new external drive and Verbatim discs with Windows Media Player. I keep getting an error saying, "Windows Media Player could not complete burning because the disc is not compatible with your drive. Try inserting a different kind of recordable media or use a disc that supports a write speed that is compatible with your drive." This is confusing because I've successfully burned three CDs before using the same setup. Lately, though, it keeps ejecting the disc after a few seconds, showing that error. I also tried using CDBurnerXP, but I ran into a similar issue. To make things weirder, when I burned the first CD, it processed each song individually and displayed the progress for each one. Now it only shows progress for the first song, and the error no longer pops up but instead shows as an 'x' icon next to the first song. I haven't changed any settings, so I'm stuck. Any ideas?

Have you checked if you're using CD-R or CD-RW discs? If you're using CD-R, make sure your drive supports the write speed of the discs you're using. Sometimes, the disc quality can also affect compatibility. Just a thought!
Honestly, who still burns CDs with Windows Media Player? There are way better tools out there! You might want to try something like ImgBurn or even a dedicated audio burning program; they tend to be more reliable than Media Player.
Yeah, maybe I should give those a shot. Thanks for the suggestion!
I'm using CD-R 52x and have tried all the speed settings, but no luck.
