Why Does My 9800X3D Idle at 52°C?

I'm noticing that my 9800X3D is idling at around 52°C with roughly 5% load. I'm using the Phantom Spirit 120 cooler, and I've seen others with the same setup idling at about 30°C. That seems quite a bit higher than what I'm seeing elsewhere! During gaming, my temperatures stay around 60-65°C, which is after I've undervolted all cores by -25. Should I be concerned about the idle temps?

Honestly, idle temps aren't a huge deal. 55°C isn't too high for a GPU. If it bugs you, adjusting your fan curve might help, but with your load temps being good, I wouldn't stress too much.

Thanks for the input! It just feels high compared to some others I've seen.

50°C is pretty reasonable, especially if your load temps are in the 60-65°C range. A lot of factors play into temps—like your cooler, the ambient temperature, fan speeds, and case ventilation. If the load temps are great, I'd say your cooler and paste job are probably fine. No need to panic!

Yeah, I've been wondering if it's a bad paste job or cooler mount. Ambient temps shouldn't be an issue; my old prebuilt idled around 30°C when I tested it, so maybe I should double-check the cooler mounting.
