What’s the Best Data Storage Tool for Our Company?

Hey everyone! I've been tasked with finding a third-party data storage solution for my company, which has about 800 employees spread out over a 200 km radius. We need 24/7 access to data, primarily consisting of PPTX files along with some PNG and JPG images. We're looking at needing around 50 GB of storage each year, and since we plan to keep this data for a really long time—over 50 years—we need a robust solution. It's crucial that not all employees can edit or delete information, so we'll need role-based access control. Also, since not everyone on the team is tech-savvy, a simple interface is essential. Lastly, we need a strong search function that allows users to easily find files just by entering part of their names. I was considering Azure Blob storage, but I'd love to know if anyone has suggestions for better options or whether Azure is a good fit for us. Thanks! 🙂

If you’re leaning towards Azure Blob and need a collaboration tool, have a look at NirvaShare. It integrates well with Azure and offers some nice features that might fit your needs!

Have you thought about using SharePoint? It’s pretty good for handling PPTX files and comes with role-based access control (RBAC). Plus, you can use Copilot to search for files, though it can be hit or miss. Just building something from scratch might be more work than needed!

I haven't heard of SharePoint yet since I'm quite new to this. Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check it out. 🙂
