Should I Change My Website Domain Due to Low Traffic?

I run a harm reduction website called safesubstance.org. Initially, I had decent traffic, around 100 users daily, but lately, that's dropped significantly and I'm barely getting any visitors. I know part of the issue is that I'm not actively promoting the site, but I feel like the name might also be a problem. If you search for 'safesubstance,' you'll find many articles on the topic but often not my site. I'm considering switching to a different domain, like safemix.org, since it appears to have less competition in search results. What do you all think? Is changing the domain a good idea, or should I focus on other aspects? Any suggestions for alternative domain names, like safemix or mixsafe?

I found your site pretty easily on DuckDuckGo, so it might not be all bad! But you should definitely check Google Search Console to see if there's an indexing issue. If your site's not getting indexed properly, it won't matter what domain you have. Also, improving your site's content can make a huge difference—don't just rely on the domain name!

True! It sounds like you might need to work on your site's content more before considering a domain switch. Focus on building it up!

Changing your domain can help, but keep in mind that the name alone isn't everything for SEO. If it's not easy to remember or find, that can hurt you. However, since your current name gets lost in search results, switching to something more unique might boost visibility. Just be sure to also improve the site's content and consider promoting it more!

Exactly! A good domain is helpful, but it's equally important to optimize your content and do some marketing to draw traffic.
