I've been using various Linux distributions, and I've noticed that the sound output is significantly quieter—about 50% quieter than on Windows. Currently, I'm using Realtek drivers. I've tried adjusting the sound levels with tools like alsamixer and Easy Effects, but the sound often ends up sounding "cranky." I had a similar issue in Debian 12 and managed to fix it by editing a file related to WirePlumber, but I can't remember which file it was. Any suggestions for fixing this that go beyond just cranking up the volume? Thanks!

You might want to check out the migration page in the Linux4Noobs wiki for some tips. It covers a lot of sound-related issues and fixes. Just to note, always verify checksums of your ISOs and be careful with third-party repos, especially with sound drivers!
Have you tried just turning it up to 11? Sometimes it’s the simplest solutions that work best!
What distribution and desktop environment are you currently using? Also, what specific hardware do you have? Knowing these details can help us troubleshoot the sound issue better!
I'm on Fedora 42, and I have these cheap Gamenote HV-H2016D headphones. I faced the same problems on Kali and Debian 12 too.
