I'm currently trying out BigLinux in live mode before I decide to install it. I know my WiFi password, but I'm unable to connect. Is it necessary to install BigLinux to get online? Also, if I do install it, will it erase my existing operating system? I want to set up a dual boot but am worried about losing my main setup.

It's not necessary to install BigLinux just to check your WiFi. If the live version is running, it should connect just fine. Just make sure you're inputting the correct password. Sometimes there are compatibility issues with certain hardware, especially with the network card. If you've tried using Ventoy to load the live version, that should be fine unless there's a specific driver issue involved.
You should be able to connect without installing BigLinux since that's the point of testing it first. Have you tried connecting to other WiFi networks or even a smartphone hotspot? When you say it won't let you connect, are you getting an error message? Also, what method did you use to create your bootable USB? It could be a driver issue with your network card if it shows no WiFi options at all, but I'd check those messages first.
