I'm house-sitting for an elderly family friend whose husband recently passed away. I'm trying to connect to the WiFi, but he changed the password. The router doesn't have a 'connect now' button, and the owner isn't tech-savvy. The only device still connected to the WiFi is a smart TV, which they took with them. Is there a way to discover the WiFi password without messing things up for her phone or computer when she returns?

You could also consider getting a travel router. Connect it to hers using Ethernet, and set up your own WiFi settings. This way, you don't disrupt her existing network.
Most routers have a factory reset button. If you press this, it will reset the password to what’s on the sticker. Or you can check her computer's network settings for the saved WiFi passwords. Just go to 'Settings' > 'Network & Internet' > 'Manage Known Networks' and choose the connection to view the password.
Check the TV's WiFi settings; you might be able to find the password there. Also, if she has a smartphone, you could look there too! Sometimes the password field can be revealed.
There are a couple of ways you could go about this. If you have access to her computer, you could run a PowerShell script that reveals saved WiFi passwords. If both of you have iPhones, you can create contacts and share the password when you attempt to connect. Otherwise, you could reset the router to set up a new network, but this might be tricky if her devices are still connected to the old one.
Head into the TV’s network settings. You might be able to see the password if you select the network and unhide the password. If that doesn't work, you can reset the router to factory settings; the default password should be on a sticker on it.
