How to Install Linux on an ARM Chromebook?

I've been using ChromeOS for a long time, but I'm really over it now. The recent updates have left my device (an HP 11a) barely functional, and I need to switch operating systems. I've heard good things about Arch and postmarketOS, but I can't go with postmarket since I don't have access to a Linux or even a Windows machine right now. I know Linux is generally much better at managing RAM, and I really need some guidance on how to install it on my device. For reference, my specs are 4GB RAM and 32GB storage with a MediaTek MT8183 processor.

You might want to check out Crostini, which is Google's default Linux mode for Chromebooks. It allows you to run Linux apps inside ChromeOS. Just be aware that you’ll need enough storage for it, which seems to be a concern for you right now. Here's a resource that might help: [Crostini guide](https://costatec.net/crostini-on-chrome-os).

That's exactly my issue—I don't have enough storage to keep Crostini running.

Based on my experience with ARM Chromebooks, replacing the OS can be tricky. I did see a YouTube video about installing Windows 10 on one of these devices, which shows that it might be possible to run other OSs. Just keep in mind that heavier OS like Windows may not perform well on your hardware.

I tried to find that video, but it's unavailable. Plus, is Windows really a good idea for this machine?
