I just received an email notifying me that my account has been permanently closed because I didn't pay an $8 bill. I wasn't even aware that I owed this money. I only use AWS to store important files, like code and photos from my uncle's funeral, as well as my wedding pictures. I can't afford to lose those photos, and I'm unsure of the next steps. Does AWS automatically delete files once an account is marked for permanent deletion? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's shocking to lose everything over an $8 bill, but that’s how strict they can be. If you're already past the 90 days, it might be tough, but still reach out to support to explain your situation. They sometimes have solutions for extenuating circumstances.
First off, definitely file a support ticket as soon as you can. Generally, they have a window of about 90 days where they might be able to reinstate your account, so hurry! If you haven’t done that yet, it’s your best shot at getting those files back.
This is a harsh reminder about keeping track of bills! For future reference, check out the 3-2-1 backup rule outlined [here](https://www.veeam.com/blog/321-backup-rule.html). It's always good to have multiple backups of important files!
