I'm planning to dual boot my system because I can't give up on Windows. I play some light games and use my computer for school work. A friend suggested Ubuntu since he's happy with it, but I'd like to hear other recommendations.

Ubuntu could work, but don’t overlook other beginner options like Debian, Fedora, Mint, and Pop!_OS. Just keep in mind that Ubuntu has had its share of issues down the line that might not sit well with everyone, so choose what you're comfortable with!

If you want something really intuitive and familiar, Linux Mint is a great choice. It’s designed for ease of use. If you're into gaming specifically, consider Pop!_OS. It's based on Ubuntu but offers better performance for gaming without the quirks that some users dislike about Ubuntu.

For someone new to Linux, I'd say go with Linux Mint, especially the Cinnamon version. It's super user-friendly and feels a lot like Windows, making it a smooth transition for beginners.

Linux Mint is probably the closest experience you'll get to Windows. It really feels like "Windows: indie game edition," which I love. Great for anyone transitioning over!

If you're feeling adventurous, give Omarchy a shot! It's user-friendly and has a bit of that Arch Linux vibe without being too difficult to set up. Just a thought!

Omarchy does sound intriguing! I've heard it's quite straightforward and performs nicely.
