I'm currently using a dual boot setup with Windows and Linux Mint, which I initially chose for its beginner-friendliness. However, I'm looking for a more customizable operating system, similar to my brother's Arch with Hyperland setup. I'm comfortable working with the terminal and configuring things myself. My goal is to find a distro that supports gaming on Steam and the Heroic Game Launcher. I've considered Pop!_OS and Zorin OS, but I've heard Zorin isn't very customizable. Also, I've heard good things about Fedora but I'm not sure my system can handle it since I'm still learning. I want a highly customizable distro—would Bazzite be a good option? Here are my system specs: CPU: AMD A4-6300, RAM: 8 GB DDR3, Storage: 740 GB (500 GB HDD + 240 GB SSD), and I don't have a dedicated GPU. I'd prefer to avoid Arch as I'm worried about messing up the installation without help from my brother, who's in college.

Don't overlook Linux Mint; it's actually very customizable once you dive into the documentation. Think of Linux distributions as LEGO sets—you can build and modify them however you like! You can switch out desktop environments right on Mint, including to something like Hyprland if you want that level of customization. It's just as flexible as Arch but with APT for package management instead.
Before you decide on a distro, you might want to think about what specific customization you're aiming for. If it's mainly for appearance and tweaks, the desktop environment is more important than the distro itself. Zorin OS is designed to be user-friendly with a nice default appearance, which is somewhat counter to heavy customization. Bazzite is a solid choice, particularly the KDE version, which allows you plenty of customization options. Just remember, if you go with Arch eventually, breaking things is part of the learning process!
Totally agree! It’s all about what you want to do with the customization. KDE offers some of the best tools for tweaking your setup.

Absolutely! The beauty of Linux is that even if you start with one distro, the possibilities to customize are endless. There's a lot you can do with Mint!
