I'm experiencing an issue with my Predator Triton PT-315-52-735Z. While I was watching something, the laptop just powered off. When I tried to turn it back on, nothing happened—no lights, no sounds, just silence. This laptop has been heavily used over the past five years, and it had quite a bit of dust buildup in the fans. I opened it up and checked the motherboard, which seems fine. I doubt the battery just died, but I've gone ahead and ordered a new one. I plan to pick up a circuit tester too. In the meantime, I'd love to hear any thoughts or ideas about what might be causing this issue.

You might want to check your system logs for more details. If you're using Windows, run `eventvwr.msc` to find the logs related to the shutdown. It could be a software-related issue, especially if there are no signs of life.
First off, a new battery might not fix the problem if it won’t turn on at all. Try unplugging the battery and see if you can boot it up just with the charger connected. That could help narrow down the issue.
Do you think something might have shorted?

I'm not familiar with 'watch your syslog,' but it's Windows, and like I said, there's really no sign of life right now.
