I accidentally dropped my Skullcandy headphones in water, and although they still work, one of the speakers sounds way worse than it used to. What steps should I take to ensure I get all the water out and avoid damaging them further?

Let the headphones sit for a few days in a warm, dry area. This should help evaporate any lingering moisture.
First off, stop using them! Running power through wet headphones can cause serious damage. If you shake them gently, you might be able to get some excess water out. Then, just place them in a well-ventilated spot for at least 48 hours to dry completely.
Instead of rice, which can introduce dust and particles, use silica gel packs to absorb moisture. If you don’t have those, just leave them in a dry area to air out.
You can try to air them out for a couple of days, or consider treating yourself to a new pair if they don’t recover fully!
