Hi everyone! My old PC, which was about 5 years old, recently broke down due to a faulty GPU and CPU/Motherboard. I've decided to buy a brand new PC and wanted to know if I can just replace the new budget SSD with my old one and connect my old HDD to the new system. Will I still have access to all my data, including Windows? Or do I need a new Windows license? A friend mentioned that everything should work fine, but I want to make sure before I proceed. Thanks for your help!

Using your old SSD is usually fine as long as it's in good condition. Just remember, Windows might require some driver updates once you connect it to the new hardware. If the new PC isn't preinstalled with Windows, that shouldn't be a major issue, but make sure you back up your art projects and important files, though! It's critical that you keep your data safe!
No problem! You might also want to consider backing everything up to an external drive or cloud service just to be extra safe.
When you switch your SSD and HDD into the new PC, there's a good chance that everything will boot up fine, provided nothing is damaged. However, keep in mind that Windows may prompt a startup recovery process and some drivers may be missing. If your old setup had BitLocker enabled, this could complicate things. If Windows needs reactivation, it might cause issues if you try to activate it on both computers since a key can typically only be active on one machine at a time. So you'll want to be prepared for that!
What if my old computer is already off? Can I just extract the activation key using PowerShell or something?
Yes, if your old system is still functional, you can run a command to grab your Windows key. Just use `wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey` in Command Prompt. If that's not available, PowerShell can also help you out with similar commands.

Thanks for the tips! I’m worried about losing my art, so I want to ensure I save everything properly.
