Switching to Mint: Will My Steelseries Headset Work?

I'm planning to transition from Windows 10 to Mint Cinnamon next weekend. I've been trying to find information on whether my Steelseries Arctis Pro headset will work, as I currently use it with Steelseries GG to connect to Discord. My headset's microphone has stopped working, so I've been using a basic studio mic with an audio interface instead. Is there any software on Linux that can perform similar functions to Steelseries GG? Should I consider getting a new headset instead? Any recommendations would be appreciated!

I have the Arctis 7P+ Pro and it works like a charm on Linux; just plug it in and it’s ready to go! If you're considering a new headset, I’d stick with something that doesn't require any additional drivers—makes life easier for sure.

You might want to test your headset with a live USB stick running Linux first. That way, you can see how well it works before making the full switch.

My headset has worked perfectly on Chachyos without any extra software—it was totally plug and play! You might find that your mic even starts working again on Linux. It was pretty unreliable on Windows for me, but it seems to run smoothly on Linux.

I never thought about it that way! Maybe my mic issues are just Windows-related.

Honestly, I'd stay clear of anything labeled as 'gaming' if possible. They often require extra software and can be buggy. Regular headphones usually have better sound quality and just work out of the box without fancy lights and software headaches.
