I've got a microphone that I plug in to hear myself while recording, but it just suddenly stopped picking up audio when I try to record anything. I'm not sure what brand it is, but I can hear my voice through it fine. However, when I actually record, it ends up being totally silent. I suspect I might have accidentally changed a setting, since I'm using Windows 10 and I'm not great with tech stuff. I've checked the cables and connections, and everything seems in order. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be wrong or how I can fix this? I'm open to anything, even if it means buying a new microphone.

I had a similar issue before, and it turned out to be a software setting. If you've tried different programs and the same thing happens, it might be worth getting a new mic. They're not too pricey and it could save you a lot of hassle!
First off, check what software you're using to record. Sometimes the input settings can change and the program might not be set to use your microphone. If that’s not it, try using a different recording program just to see if it’s a software issue. Also, swapping out the cable or testing another mic could help narrow down the problem.
