I'm building a PC with a Ryzen 5 5600, an ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI II motherboard, an RX 9060 XT 16GB graphics card, and a Lian Li V100 ATX case. The case has two front USB-A ports and a front USB-C port. The motherboard supports a USB 3.2 Gen 1 internal header, but it does not have the newer USB 3.2 Gen 2 front-panel header. The case instructions say an adapter is needed for the USB connections. Can I skip the adapter, and will the two front USB-A ports still work?

The motherboard has an internal USB 3.2 Gen 1 header, so the two front USB-A ports should work when connected to it. The front USB-C cable needs a USB 3.2 Gen 2 header, which this motherboard doesn’t provide. You can leave that cable disconnected, but the front USB-C port won’t function. If you want to use it, you could add a PCIe card with an internal Gen 2 USB-C header.
Yes, you can build and use the PC without the adapter. The system itself will work normally, but the case’s front USB-C port will be unusable. The two front USB-A ports should still work through the motherboard’s USB 3.2 Gen 1 header.
That works for me. I mainly wanted to make sure the two front USB ports would still function.
Can I just skip connecting the USB-C cable? I’m fine using the USB-C ports on the back of the motherboard.
