I have an Acer Chromebook 516 GE, model CBG516-1H, and I'm not very familiar with Linux yet. I'd like to install Steam so I can use mods for a game, but I'm not sure which installation method works with this Chromebook. I couldn't find the exact model listed where I bought it. Does anyone know whether this Chromebook supports Steam, and what steps I should follow?

If the Linux container doesn’t meet your needs, there are community-maintained guides for replacing ChromeOS with a native Linux setup on some Chromebook models. However, support varies by device, and you could run into missing drivers, broken features, or recovery issues. Make a recovery backup first and use the exact guide for the CBG516 model rather than following generic Chromebook instructions.
Before installing anything, check how much storage and RAM the Chromebook has and confirm that Linux apps are enabled in ChromeOS. Steam may install successfully but still struggle with demanding games, and some mods require the Windows version of a game or extra compatibility tools.
