How Should I Price My First Custom Hotel Website?

I built a complete website for a luxury hotel in an Arabic-speaking country. It has multiple sections, custom 3D animations, and took me about a week to finish. I'm proud of the result, especially since I built everything myself without AI. The owner asked me to create it and then show him the finished work, but we never agreed on a price beforehand. This is my first time selling a website—I had originally been doing it for free—so I'm unsure what would be a fair amount to ask for.

Don’t charge solely because the site has animations or looks impressive. Make sure it works well on phones, loads quickly, is accessible, easy for the hotel to update, and has any needed booking or contact functionality. Those practical details affect the price just as much as the visual design.

It’s difficult to name an exact price without seeing the site, knowing what’s included, or understanding local rates. A project like this could reasonably fall anywhere from around $500 to several thousand dollars depending on the quality, responsiveness, booking features, content, revisions, hosting, and ongoing support. List everything you delivered, estimate the hours, choose a realistic hourly rate, and present it as a professional project quote rather than picking a random number.

The biggest issue is that the price should have been discussed before you started. Since there was no agreement, the owner may not expect a large invoice. Show the finished work, explain how much time and custom development went into it, and offer a clear launch price or package. You could also separate the cost of the completed build from optional maintenance, updates, hosting, and future changes.

Don’t let people mock you for being new. You did real work, and building something yourself for a week has value. For future projects, always define the scope, number of revisions, delivery date, payment schedule, and total price in writing before beginning. At minimum, request a deposit and avoid handing over the final files until the agreed payment is complete.
