For the past month or two, I've had trouble uploading images to some platforms. On one service, image comments show a long processing error and image posts disappear, while another mobile website reports an upload error. This happens in both the Android app and browser. Cropping the image by any amount makes it upload successfully, but I have no issues sending the same files through Discord or WhatsApp. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it without cropping every image?

The error indicates that the platform is failing to process either the image itself or the way the file is being uploaded. Since cropping makes the upload work, the likely causes are an unsupported image format, unusual metadata, a very large resolution or file size, or a problem with the original file’s encoding. Try opening the image in an editor and exporting it again as a standard JPEG or PNG, rather than just renaming the file extension. Also try clearing the app and browser cache, updating the app, and testing a different browser. If re-exporting fixes it, the original images probably contain metadata or encoding that those platforms currently reject.
