I'm having a strange issue with Safari on my iPhone. One of my banks provides PDF receipts for transactions, but when I tap the download button, a loading spinner appears briefly and then disappears. No PDF opens, and nothing appears in Safari's downloads. PDFs from other websites work normally, and receipts from another bank download without any trouble. I've already enabled pop-ups and tried requesting the desktop version of the site, but neither helped. The bank's website used to show Safari's download indicator for these receipts, but that stopped about a month ago. What could be causing this, and is there anything I can do to fix it?

The bank’s website is probably generating the PDF inside the page instead of linking to a regular file. iPhone Safari handles those generated downloads more strictly than desktop Safari, so the request can fail silently. The fact that the same receipt downloads successfully on a Mac strongly suggests the problem is with the site’s mobile implementation rather than a setting on your phone. You could try looking for a download arrow in Safari’s address bar, but if that no longer appears, the bank likely needs to fix its website. The official banking app or a computer may be the most reliable workaround.
Since holding the download button didn’t produce a menu or save the file, this probably isn’t something you can correct with Safari settings.
