Accidentally Clicked a Sketchy Ad: Am I Hacked?

I was browsing and stumbled upon a post with a link leading to one of those image sharing sites. There were multiple ads on the page from an ad provider called Adskeeper, mostly about some diabetes medication. Accidentally, I clicked on one of the ads three times in a row. The first two clicks sent me to a scam AI site, but on the third click, it opened a new tab with "?utm_source=google" in the URL. I checked a couple of sites and got a warning from Virustotal that labeled the link as suspicious. Should I be worried? What steps should I take to ensure my computer is safe?

Sounds scary, but don’t panic too much! Just make sure to steer clear of any personal info and change your passwords if you feel unsure. Sometimes these ads are just designed to scare you into clicking more. Keeping your software up to date helps a lot too.

I’ll check my passwords and update everything. Appreciate the reassurance!

It's probably a good idea to run a malware scan on your computer just to be safe. Sometimes, sketchy ads can lead to harmful sites, but if you didn't enter any personal information, you might be in the clear. Check out some malware removal tools like Malwarebytes or Windows Defender if you have it.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely run a scan and see what comes up.
