Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building my PC but I'm missing one crucial component: the motherboard. With the recent price increases, I've picked some components but I need advice on the motherboard options.
**Use case:** I'm focused on video editing, rendering for architecture and using Blender, as well as local AI image and video generation.
**Here are the motherboards I've narrowed down (EU prices in EUR):**
1. Msi 850 Gaming Plus - €160
2. Gigabyte 850 Aorus Elite - €215
3. MSI X870E Gaming Plus WIFI ATX AM5 - €241
4. MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk WIFI - €259
5. MSI B850 Edge TI - €230
6. MSI 850 Tomahawk Max - €251
7. Gigabyte X870 Gaming WIFI7 - €230
8. Asus B850 TUF Gaming - €213
9. Asus B850-A Gaming - €274
I'm looking for recommendations on:
- Any other motherboards that might offer a better price without compromising quality?
- Suggestions on chipset and VRM that would best suit my needs?
- Is it worth grabbing the cheapest option?
- Why would someone choose the most expensive option?
Aesthetics or upgradeability aren't my main concerns; I'm hoping to keep this build for at least 5 years, but I'd appreciate more SSD slots and SATA ports for HDDs.
**Current setup:**
- RAM: DDR5 Crucial Pro 5600 CL46, 96GB (2x48)
- CPU: Ryzen 9 7900
- GPU: RTX 5090 (or 5070 Ti if I can't get the 5090 at a reasonable price)
- PSU: SAMA 1200W Platinum
- SSD: Samsung 9100 Pro, 4TB
- HDD: Exos 12TB, 7200 RPM
Thanks for your help!

Honestly, I'd just go for the cheapest one that meets your needs. The Msi 850 Gaming Plus seems like a solid choice. It's good without the frills, but just make sure it has the features you'll actually use. If you're worried about future-proofing, maybe consider the X870 chipset for better connectivity down the line.
If you're looking for solid recommendations, check out those YouTube reviews on motherboards. They explain features to consider when making your choice, which should help you narrow it down further. Good luck with your build!
Thanks a ton for the links! I'll definitely give them a watch.

I feel you on that—USB4 might be worth having for future devices. If you can stretch your budget, the X870 has more long-term benefits!
