Hey everyone! I'm excited to be building my first PC and I want to make sure I get it right. I'm focusing on creating a system that can handle 4K media playback smoothly, but I'm not interested in gaming. I've done some research on parts via PCPartPicker, and I would love some feedback on my choices.
Here's what I have in mind: I already have a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB SSD, so I won't be needing an extra SSD. I'm looking to keep my budget around $1,300 and I want to build something compact, ideally a small form factor (SFF). My current setup is a HP ProDesk G3 600 SFF with an i5-6500, 16GB of DDR4 RAM (mixed speeds, but it runs at 1333MHz), and a GT 1030 GPU. This current configuration isn't cutting it for me anymore and I'm hoping to upgrade to something that can play all modern codecs and handle HDR10 as I want to future-proof my setup for my 4K television.
Am I on the right track with my selections? Do you have any suggestions for components that might work better for my needs? Thanks for any advice you can offer!

It looks like the Core Ultra 225 could be a great option for you! It's newer, has more cores, and is generally cheaper than the Ryzen 7 8700G, plus it has better compatibility for newer software and codecs. You won't need a separate cooler since both CPUs come with stock coolers. Just keep your focus on getting the latest technology since that will help future-proof your build. Good luck with your first build!

Thanks for the advice! I'm definitely leaning towards the newer tech. Just to be safe, does that chip fit the motherboard I’m working with?
