I'm looking to upgrade my current computer, which has an i7 5820K processor, a Gigabyte X99-UD4-CF motherboard, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980. I enjoy gaming, video editing, and watching Blu-ray movies, and I want a system that will last me for 5 to 10 years without needing frequent upgrades. I'm trying to decide whether an RTX 5070 is sufficient for my needs or if I should go for a 5070 Ti or 5080. Additionally, I'm confused about which processor to choose between an Ultra7 or Ultra9. Any advice would be appreciated!

Have you thought about any of the new AMD CPUs? They're often more energy-efficient and can outperform in gaming while still being competitive in workloads that are CPU heavy.
When it comes to the Ultra series, it’s all about the numbers: Ultra3 is less powerful than Ultra5, which is less powerful than Ultra7, and so on. Focus on getting a processor with more Performance cores (P cores) since those are more important for your tasks than Efficiency cores (E cores). I recommend steering clear of Intel’s 13th and 14th gen chips; they have voltage issues. The RTX 5070 should serve you well for your use case!
What processor would you suggest that would last a decade and still be capable of handling video editing and gaming? Any specific build you have in mind?
For video editing, I suggest the Core Ultra 265K; it’s a great value. Given your current setup, the RTX 5070 will be a significant upgrade, but if you want to ensure longevity, you might consider the 5070 Ti for more VRAM or even the 5080 since it has a dual decoder that could streamline your workflow.
My priority is video editing, with light gaming here and there, so I really want a powerful rig that can last for 10 years.

Absolutely agree! Also, keep in mind that if the Ultra core starts with '1', it’s first gen, and if it’s '2', that's the second gen.
