Advice on Using All 4 RAM Sticks for Stability

I recently built my first custom PC, and I'm really enjoying it! My specs include a 5070ti graphics card, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, and an Aorus Elite X870E motherboard. Originally, I had 32GB (2x16GB) of Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM, but I just received another matching set of 2x16GB as a gift, bringing me to a total of 64GB. I've heard mixed opinions about using all four RAM sticks. Should I go ahead and use all of them, even if that might mean lowering the speeds? If I do adjust the speeds, how can I test for stability? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Using more RAM doesn't automatically mean better performance. If you're not hitting memory limits, extra sticks can slow things down due to timing issues. In terms of performance, particularly in gaming, most games won’t utilize more than 32GB. Make sure your need for the extra RAM is justified before making the change.

I definitely need it for Tarkov! It uses a lot of memory. I guess I'll just have to try and see how it performs.

Before deciding to use all four sticks, consider if you truly need that much RAM. If you're playing games that require more than 32GB, like Tarkov, then it makes sense to use all of it. However, running all four sticks could lower your speeds. The speeds depend on the specific model of RAM you have, so you'll want to find those details. Once you change the speeds, you can test stability using tools like MemTest86 or the built-in Windows Memory Diagnostic.

Got it! I think I’ll check out those tools. Also, do you think lowering speeds significantly affects gaming performance?
