Best Budget PC for Casual Gaming?

I'm looking to build a PC for my wife who enjoys playing indie and cozy games. Her favorites include titles like Spiritfarer, Potion Craft, and Strange Horticulture, with the occasional 3D game thrown in. The games she plays aren't demanding in terms of graphics or CPU power. I was considering buying a used PC from the marketplace, but I'm wondering if it might be better to build a simple and affordable setup instead. Any advice?

You can definitely find something used that will suit her needs. I tried selling my old PC with a GTX 1060 for just $150, and I think you'd stumble upon a great deal too! Keep your eyes peeled for something that can handle those cozy games without breaking the bank.

If you'd prefer to build it yourself to save some cash, a modular PSU can make construction easier and usually costs less than paying for someone to build it for you. For light 2D games, you might not even need a dedicated graphics card if you use a CPU with integrated graphics. You can always add a GPU later if needed!

Building an AM4-based PC could be the way to go. Here's a rough breakdown: a B550M motherboard for about $100, a used Ryzen 5600X around $100, a used GTX 1660 Super for another $100, and then 16-32GB of DDR4 RAM would run you about $40-65. Throw in a 500GB or 1TB SSD for $30-50, a 500W PSU for about $50, and a case for $40. All in, you're looking at around $500. This setup should run those games perfectly!

Definitely go for a nice-looking case, remember, this is for your wife! It's all about aesthetics, right?
