Best Budget Upgrade Options for My Dell Optiplex 7070 Gaming Setup

I'm currently using a Dell Optiplex 7070 with an RX550 4GB GPU, an i7 9700 CPU, and 32GB of quad-channel DDR4 RAM running at 2666MHz. I used to have a much more powerful setup with an RTX 2080 Super and an i9 9900KF, which could easily handle the Silent Hill 2 remake and other modern games at high settings. Now, my current system struggles to run games even on low settings, often at 720p and around 15 FPS. I'm looking for budget-friendly recommendations to upgrade my system components, including the case, motherboard, GPU, CPU, RAM, fans, and power supply, aiming to achieve at least 1440p resolution and 60 FPS performance for current and upcoming games. I also have a 4K 240Hz HDR monitor and need suggestions for peripherals like a mouse, keyboard, and WiFi adapter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

For your Optiplex setup, upgrading the GPU is definitely key since that's the weakest link in your system right now. I'd recommend looking into something like the RX 6600 or the RTX 3060, which offer better performance without breaking the bank. You might also want to consider upgrading the power supply if you go for something more powerful.

I've seen the RX 6600 do wonders in older systems. It's a solid pick if you're aiming for budget and performance. Plus, it should fit well in your case!

If your budget allows, the RTX 3050 for $209 isn't a terrible option, but it may not give you the long-term performance you're hoping for. Think about saving for something like the 6600 instead.

Honestly, if you're looking to get back to 1440p gaming at decent settings, focusing on the GPU and possibly upgrading the RAM to a higher speed can make a world of difference. Make sure your case can handle the new GPU; some of the higher-end ones can be quite big. Just verify your power supply compatibility too!

Good point about the PSU. It's often overlooked but really important, especially with better GPUs!

Yep, and don't forget that modern GPUs also support more features like ray tracing, which can make a big difference in visuals!
