I'm looking for a good Linux distribution that can serve as both a desktop environment and a Jellyfin server on my older hardware (i5 4670k and a GTX 1060). I'm particularly interested in Fedora 42 and Ubuntu 25, but I'm open to suggestions. My only prior experience with Linux is setting up a home server using Ubuntu, which didn't go so well. What distribution would you recommend?

Any major distro will work fine for you! Just ensure to follow Jellyfin’s advice on drivers since Fedora can sometimes need extra setup for them. A few tips: use the recommended drivers, set a static IP, and consider Samba for file sharing if you plan to access files from other computers.

Good point! It might be better for performance if you skip the desktop environment altogether, especially to save on resources.
