Best Linux Distro for Gaming with a 9070XT for Beginners?

I'm transitioning from Windows and looking to settle on a Linux distro since I'm done with Windows 10 once support ends. I've checked out guides on Mint and Arch, and while Mint feels the most user-friendly and Windows-like, I'm concerned about its compatibility with my 9070XT GPU. It seems that Mint might be running an older kernel that doesn't fully support newer Radeon cards. So, as a Linux newbie with little terminal experience, what distro should I realistically aim for that supports gaming and my specific GPU? I've heard about Fedora and Nobara but getting lost in the numerous versions available. Any advice on how to pick the right one?

You might want to check out Nobara KDE or Bazzite. They don't require much terminal work, and both have AMD support with codecs and Steam pre-installed. Just give their descriptions a read; I think you'll find them pretty straightforward!

You could try the distro selection page on the Linux4Noobs wiki for some personalized help. Also, it’s handy to search for other users' experiences with different distros. One thing to keep in mind is to take regular backups and practice commands in a VM before running them for real. Good luck with your Linux journey!

Before you settle down, it's a great idea to try out some live USB versions or even a virtual machine. That way, you can test different distros and desktop environments to see what you're comfortable with. After that, just go for whichever one you like best and install it! I've got some links to get you started:

- What’s a Live USB? Check [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_USB).
- Here’s a tool called Ventoy for creating Live USBs: [Ventoy](https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html).

And don’t forget to explore distros like Debian and Linux Mint through their live images. It’s a fun way to get hands-on experience!

If you're super keen on gaming, some people jokingly suggest sticking with Windows 11 for now, haha! Just food for thought.

I’ve heard good things about Catchyos for gaming. It might be worth checking out since it’s designed with gaming in mind!
